After many frustrating years spent brandishing a meat tenderizer, a potato masher, a fork, a pizza wheel, a spatula and a slotted spoon that all hurt my wrists and damaged my non-stick pans in a tedious quest to chop/break up ground meats for thorough browning, I was about to throw in the tea towel.
And then, mercifully, I finally found it, my new kitchen best friend, during a leisurely stroll through the kitchen utensil aisles at Boscovs department store. Ground Meat Chopper, Mix N Chop, Meat Masher and Meat Chopper are just some of the names this object of wonder that seems sent from above goes by.
Mine is made by the Zing! Company, and with its wide blades, it’s perfect for crumbling ground meat without causing my wrists to ache. Its sturdy one-piece nylon construction doesn’t break, stays cool while in use and doesn’t scratch my non-stick pans.
It’s no wonder this remarkable tool has inspired more than a few of my meal creations and has put more than a little zing in my kitchen.
