I’ve been celebrating my love affair with Autumn for years, when the brilliance and evocative earthy beauty of Mother Nature is on full display.
She’s at her best when using broad brush strokes to paint a vibrant landscape resplendent with fiery reds, brilliant oranges, vivid yellows and bold greens. Trees blaze with regal, bold, rich, and warm scarlet, berry, crimson, auburn, carnelian, cinnamon, nutmeg, russet, amber, saffron, butterscotch, ochre, and pumpkin hues. There is nothing subtle about Autumn and the spectacle we bear witness to when trees seemingly burst with uninhibited and arresting shades as rustling leaves carpet the ground in a blanket of phenomenal fall foliage.
Days are brisk and pleasantly fresh. Crisp nights have a nip in the air. Life’s simple joys include an unhurried Sunday drive to enjoy the splendor of Autumn up close and personal; a steaming mug of mulled apple cider; kitchens alive with and homes teeming with the rich and tantalizing scents of cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and nutmeg; the satisfying crunch of a Honeycrisp apple; the warming comfort of a hearty bowl of chili; and the cozy feel of a favorite sweatshirt.
Autumn makes sure to engage, delight, invigorate, and inspire our senses of sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch in a wondrous celebration.
